Initial Brief
The customer wanted his old worn out slate roof to be taken off and completely renovated with brand new breathable felt, battens, new Elterdale Grey/Green slate whilst also incorporating in-roof solar panels to lower his carbon footprint and more importantly, lower his energy bills! The South West side of the roof that we installed the solar panels on was affected by shading from his two chimneys, nearby trees and even his neighbours roof! We got around this issue by installing Tigo optimisers which help regulate the solar panels during times of shading.

Elterdale Grey Green slate is quarried from the finest slate beds in Paraopeba Valley in Brazil. The grey green colour is cost effective and a good alternative to the much higher specification Vermont Structural Unfading Green and the Westmorland Green slates. The GSE in-roof system is an efficient solution for securing photovoltaic panels onto your roof. On this property we installed 14 x 400w Suntech all black panels, with added battery storage so Eddie can still take advantage of the sun even when it’s cloudy!
